My Story
“One can speak poetry just by arranging colors well, just as one can say comforting things in music.” – Vincent Van Gogh
For Melinda J. Weis, contemporary realist, color excites and music inspires. Sometimes the two collide in her studio. “I find myself hearing the music accumulated through decades of listening as I am painting. And, as it influences what goes on the canvas, it quite often creeps into the titles. But while music is a contributory force, color is what drives my paintings, regardless of the subject matter. Whether wild and exuberant or subtle and refined, it supports the narrative within.”

Melinda, a native Kansan, studied fine art at Wichita State University. She currently teaches painting at Mark Arts where she has two pieces in their permanent collection. God's wonderful creation is always her inspiration.
